Arsenal beat Manchester United at last minute in Premier League clash

The game: 3-2

This is a top-of-the-line shock that has kept all its promises. Above all, this spectacular and ultimately deserved success of the leader, Arsenal – who stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to thirteen matches (eleven wins, two draws) – at the expense of Manchester United (3-2), now fourth at eleven points), shows the runner-up, Manchester City, winner of Wolves (3-0, hat-trick from Haaland) a little earlier on Sunday, that he will have to be really very strong to retain his title of champion of England.

These Gunners, who are again five points ahead of the Citizens (with moreover one game more than the latter to play), appear strong technically, physically and mentally. Thus the magnificent goal of Marcus Rashford, which they conceded in the 17th minute – a dry shot from the right after a sumptuous hook on Partey – did not break their momentum, visible from the 2nd minute with an opportunity for the Ghanaian midfielder, exactly. He had been served by a cross from the left of his Swiss friend Xhaka, who did it again from the right side in the 24th. And this time, Eddie Nketiah converted the offering, with a perfect recovery from the head.

After an already intense and rhythmic first period, where they were rather dominating in the midfield, the Londoners again raised the cursor from the start. And they were quickly rewarded, thanks to a splendid strike from the left of Saka (53rd). But the eye-catching Mancunians in turn quickly equalized, the Argentine defender world champion Lisandro Martinez taking advantage of a failed exit from Ramsdale to score with a clever diving header (59th).

The last half hour was totally subdued and dominated by raging and inspired Gunners. After opportunities for Odegaard (66th), Saka (70th), Martinelli (79th) and Nketiah (84th), it is therefore very logical that the latter, by offering himself a double, offered victory to his family (90th). In a molten Emirates Stadium!

The duo: Saka-Nketiah, the youth in power

English international left winger Bukayo Saka (21 years old, 24 caps, 7 goals) and center-forward Eddie Nketiah (23 years old, still only Hopes), both trained at Arsenal, hurt MU very badly. Certainly, like this season, we saw more in this shock the twirling Saka, indisputable holder while his friend benefits from the injury of Gabriel Jesus. Thus, Saka never stopped provoking and harassing to weigh on his opponents, scored the superb 2-1 goal with his left leg (53rd) and came close to scoring a double (70th). A little less prominent in the game, Nketiah, he, hyper-opportunistic and clever, succeeded, doubled it. By equalizing at 1-1 from the head (24th), then delivering a whole stadium, from close, from the right (90th)!

By losing to Arsenal (2-3), Manchester United suffered their first defeat since the truce due to the World Cup. Since the resumption, the Red Devils had lined up seven successes (four in the Premier League, two in the League Cup and one in the FA Cup) and a draw.
